Long before there were movie projectors, there was the "zoetrope". A cylinder with slots in it spun rapidly, making the still images pasted inside seem move on their own. It was a big hit in Victorian times until some guy named Edison came up with the movie projector. While the shade on this lamp doesn't spin, it seems to create its own motion with the varied vertical lines that surround it. It appears to be moving, even when just sitting there on the table, doing what it does best: lighting the area around it. The bright white conical base adds form and beauty to the lamp, allowing the shade to seemingly float in mid air.
