One of the maddening things about most floor lamps is there need for floor space immediately adjacent to a chair or sofa. How inconvenient. If only someone would design a lamp where the base can stay near the electrical outlet while the light itself can swing to wherever it's needed at the moment. Someone was obviously listening.
