Anya Bags a Target Line

It's the it-bag favored by celebs from Madonna and Margaret Thatcher to Claudia Schiffer and Scarlett Johanssen.  Now, regular people can afford their own Anya Hindmarch bags – without having to take out a loan to pay for it.  London-based Hindmarch joins Rogan, Isaac Mizrahi, Liz Lange and more as the latest popular designer to team with Target stores for a low-priced line.  The totes, clutches and handbags, which top out at $49.99 for a large tote, are also available on Anya's website, but will not be available in her stores.  They feature typical Anya design details, but are constructed out of PVC plastic instead of the leather, suede and python leather the designer favors for her high-end pieces. 

 Hindmarch gained fame in 2007 for her "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" tote bag, the shopping-bag alternative that sold out around the world and spawned the reusable designer shopping tote craze.   Even though they retailed at a mere five pounds, the environmentally-friendly totes were featured alongside expensive perfume and electronic gadgets as part of Vanity Fair's goodie bag at the Academy Awards!   Anya's latest unique offering is the "Be A Bag," a personal tote you design yourself using photos or other images.   It's not available at Target yet, but we can dream…
