Men’s Designer Shoes for Spring-Summer 2010

Men’s fashion may not get all the attention and fanfare that it’s Womenswear counterpart gets, but the design elements are no less fantastic. In fact, because men are less likely to wear extreme cut or color designers of men’s fashion must exhibit restraint while still presented renewed creativity each season. The result are collections that are exquisitely refined. And there’s not better place to find this refinement than in the shoe section.

For Gucci, Mark Ronson brings us a smart blue canvas sneaker, which sold exclusively in pop up stores. Once such store was found in Miami during the 2009 Art Basel event. The design is is an interesting mix of preppy and Hip-Hop - with a just a touch of retro appeal.

Givenchy  is among those that push the envelope and give men a chance to “shine” like the ladies. The gladiator sandals in high-gloss metallic aren’t for everybody. However, pair them with understated neutrals (as seen on the runway) and suddenly they aren’t so flamboyant. These are for the real fashionistos that embrace fashion risk.

News is that Martin Margiela is hanging up his fashion design hat. It’s a real pity because his Spring shoes for men are incredible! The represent understated elegance with an unexpected twist. The pair of leather lace-ups with floral cut outs prove that flowers are just for ladies.

If you like the comfort of sneakers, but still want ultimate sophistication, Dior Homme has the perfect shoe.  Seen on the runway in white and neutral tones, the shoe is the perfect blend of casual and class. The extra-long, wrap around laces add some edge without adding extra bulk to the design.

Diesel also brought some shoe heat for men this season, and being farther down market, these kicks much more accessible. The high top denim sneakers are perfect weekenders and you don’t have to worry too much about getting them dirty.
